Established in 1918, the Dallas Junior Chamber of Commerce (DJCC) is the city’s premier network for young professionals between the ages 21 – 39. We offer diverse opportunities for personal and professional growth through professional development, networking, and philanthropy.
Our members are active, up and coming professionals in the Dallas community. Through philanthropic projects and our annual signature events, we make a powerful impact on our community by volunteering and fundraising for several charitable organizations. Professional development is available through monthly meeting speakers and our training seminars. We also host a variety of social activities including cultural, sporting and networking events.
We provide our members unparalleled opportunities to gain the experience needed to become more effective civic and business leaders in an environment where they can meet others with the same ambition.
With a median age of 30, in just about every industry including legal, engineering, marketing, sales, finance, and many entrepreneurs, our organization boasts over many outstanding members, and a newsletter distribution of over 1000.
President John F. Kennedy credited the Junior Chamber for providing his ‘informal’ education, which he considered equally important as his Harvard ‘formal’ education.
What We Do
The cornerstone of DJCC is our Monthly Meetings held on the first Tuesday of the month. They provide a glimpse into business and philanthropic areas of our community. It’s where our members and guests come to network with professionals from diverse backgrounds representing many area businesses from small to large.
We organize a number of opportunities to give back to our community. Previously, events have been held at Scottish Rite Hospital, North Texas Food Bank, The Ronald McDonald House, The Bridge, and DFW Airport, where we welcomed our military troops home.
These social and networking events provide an opportunity to get to know fellow members and guests. These are often held in conjunction with other young professional groups, such as Helping Hands, the American Heart Association, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and Habitat for Humanity.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING SEMINARS
We offer periodic training seminars targeted toward young professionals on topics like business development, negotiation, personal marketing, resume writing, and interview tactics. Our seminars are taught by Junior Chamber International (JCI) certified professional instructors.
JOHNNY SIDES: DALLAS POLICE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
This is our most prestigious event honoring the Dallas Police Department’s Rookie of the Year. The event is a unique opportunity to mingle with our city’s most elite politicians and civic officials. The event benefits the Assist the Officer Foundation, which provides financial assistance to officers facing loss of income due to a serious injury, life threatening illness or other catastrophic event.
Our annual Wine Tasting, “TASTE” brings together nearly 400 young professionals, art aficionados and wine lovers to enjoy premier wines from around the globe at acclaimed Dallas galleries like the Dallas Museum of Art, the Contemporary Museum of Art, Christopher H. Martin Gallery Five, and the Samuel Lynn Gallery.
FIVE OUTSTANDING YOUNG DALLASITES (FOYD)
This program recognizes young Dallasites, who have distinguished themselves through outstanding achievement in their professional lives and community service in Dallas. FOYD is part of the Texas Junior Chamber’s Five Outstanding Young Texans (FOYT) and the United States Junior Chamber’s Ten Outstanding Young Americans (TOYA).
EASTER EGG HUNT FOR THE BLIND
This extraordinary event allows visually impaired children and their families to hunt for custom-made “beeping eggs.” Many of these very special children and their families also enjoy face painting, piñatas and other family oriented activities. Proceeds benefit the State of Texas Division for Blind Services.
