Easter Egg Hunt for the Blind
Our next signature event is quickly approaching – mark your calendar for Saturday, Marc 24th. Our 12th Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Nash Davis Park and Recreation Center (3710 N Hampton Rd, Dallas). Volunteers should expect to arrive at 7:00 a.m.
The Easter Egg Hunt is one of the DJCC’s signature philanthropic events. This extraordinary, emotional event allows visually impaired children to hunt for specially designed beeping eggs. With the assistance of DJCC volunteers, visually impaired children and their sighted siblings, cousins, and family friends are invited to participate in the egg hunts and other fun activities scheduled for the morning. Besides the egg hunts, there will be games, pinatas, face painting, and more. Also, there will be a special visit from the Easter Bunny! Breakfast will be served.
DJCC members, community volunteers, visually-impaired children and their families will take part in this wonderful philanthropic event. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services – Division for Blind Services. DARS assists blind or visually impaired individuals and their families. Depending upon their goals and needs, DARS offers services to help the visually impaired regain independence, find a job, or live independently. They also help children receive the training needed to be successful in school and beyond.
The event allows visually-impaired children and their families to hunt for custom-made “beeping eggs.” These special children and their families can enjoy egg hunts, face painting, piñatas and other activities. The Easter Bunny will also make an appearance! For more information, please contact Eric Brown at community@djcc.us.
