As Vice President of Marketing for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Emily Callahan is responsible for engaging diverse audiences to join with Komen for the Cure in its global efforts to discover and deliver cures for breast cancer.

She oversees the organization’s marketing communications, interactive media and event functions. Ms. Callahan leads the strategic planning and implementation for events such as the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure, a 150-stop mobile engagement tour, and the organization’s annual Affiliate Leadership Conference, She guides Komen’s efforts to identify, cultivate and strengthen relationships with its key constituents, including corporate partners, donors, grant recipients, the media and celebrities. She also provides communications counsel to the organization’s executive committee and its 125 affiliates on a broad range of initiatives and issues.

Before joining Komen, Ms. Callahan was a supervisor at the Dallas office of the global public relations firm Edelman and also led event planning and public relations for the Heart O’ Texas Fair Complex.

In 2007, PR News named Ms. Callahan “Nonprofiit Public Relations Director of the Year” and in 2008, it named her a “Corporate Social Responsibility Pioneer of the Year.” Ms. Callahan serves on the board of Girls in Motion, a not-for-profit organization that provides mentoring to preadolescent girls with the goal of promoting positive body image. She has a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a master’s degree from the University of North Texas, which in 2006 named her its graduate alum “Rising Star.
