Rules and Eligibility for Nominations

Note: Nomination is a two step process.
Step 1: Submit the name of the nominee. The first four items below provide the basic rules for sumission.
Step 2: Fill out the forms provided by the FOYD committee when they follow up with you; the rest of the rules here apply to the rest of the nomination process and expectations of the FOYD winners.
  1. Age: To be eligible, a Nominee must be between the ages of 21 and 40, inclusive, and he or she must not turn 41 before January 1, 2012.
  2. Citizenship: Nominees must be U.S. citizens (native born or naturalized) or have applied for citizenship by January 1, 2011.
  3. Residence: Nominee should be a resident of the Greater Dallas area, work in the area, or be from the area (Nominee does not have to be a resident of Dallas). For the purposes of this form, the Greater Dallas area includes, but is not limited to, the following counties and surrounding areas: Dallas, Tarrant, Denton, Collin, Rockwall, Hunt, Kaufman, Ellis, and Johnson. Nominees outside this region, who have other connections to Dallas, will also be considered. Contact foyd@djcc.us if there are any questions about eligibility.
  4. Self Nomination: Nominees may self nominate. In this case they should fill out all nominator and nominee information.
  5. Consent: Nominees should sign the nomination form or provide other evidence of consent such as an email (foyd@djcc.us). This consent will attest to all information on the form, give permission for publication of information, and indicate a willingness (barring extreme circumstances) to attend the FOYD Awards Ceremony if the nominee is under final consideration for the FOYD award.
  6. Photo: Nominees or Nominators must submit a Photo – web quality, electronic format, 8” x 10” or 5”x 7” black-and-white or color headshot or head-and-shoulders photo of the nominee emailed with the nomination form.
  7. Completeness: It is advised that the nominee’s full name is in the filename of each file emailed and all files are included in as few emails as possible. All information on this form needs to be provided for the nomination to be considered. Nominators or Nominees should seek an acknowledgement of files sent and completeness of this form. If acknowledgement is not given within 48 hours, they should follow up via FOYD Chair Nikki Taylor’s personal email: nikki.taylor314@gmail.com or DJCC President Chris Kobler’s personal email: crkobler@gmail.com
  8. Multiple Nominators: Multiple nominators may nominate the same candidate. Only one needs to fill out this form, although all may. If helpful, the nominee may coordinate their various nominators, and for example, additional essays for the same candidate may be shorter to avoid duplicate information or emails with endorsements may be saved in Acrobat (.pdf) format. There is no minimum limit for the essay length, e.g. “I endorse the nominee for the FOYD award”). The DJCC may follow up with any endorsers or nominators to ensure authenticity as well as to get more info about the candidate, but will commit to do so in a fashion that is respectful of everyone’s time.
  9. Video for winners: If possible, the DJCC would like to interview the winners’ nominators and endorsers for a video to show at the event as well as to submit for state and national awards.
  10. Submission via email: All final entries must be emailed no later than the due date posted on http://djcc.us/foyd and submitted via email to: foyd@djcc.us This form must be sent as Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or as Acrobat (.pdf) format. For the purpose of fairness, materials submitted outside of these guidelines may be disqualified—Please follow up on your submission if there are any concerns or questions.
